Amanda Gorman has just landed her first Vogue cover making this the first time in history a poet has featured on the front of the glossy magazine.
And as you can imagine, the 23-year-old is pretty stoked!
“I am eternally grateful & do not expect to be the last – for what is poetry if not beauty?” she writes in an Instagram post.

“What a joy to do this while wearing a piece designed by groundbreaking Black designer @virgilabloh that honours my heritage. It was dream to be photographed by the indomitable @annieleibovitz and styled by @gabreillak_j who literally would carry me on her back & forth between set,” she continues.
“Wow, my hands are sharking with love. This is called the Rise of Amanda Gorman, but it is truly for all of you, both name and unseen, who lift me up.”
Amanda also gives a shoutout to her mum, Joan, “who helped with hair on-set.”
The May issue features two images of Amanda shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz.
In the feature story by Doreen St. Félix, Amanda opens up about the wonderful support she’s received from media queen Oprah Winfrey and her dream of one day, becoming president!
Amanda Gorman’s been the name on everyone’s lips since she captured our hearts with her powerful words at the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this year.
She also became the first poet to perform at the Super Bowl and she’s releasing several books this year.
We’ll be right over here, cheering her on!
