BTS Makes History as First Asian Act to Win Artist of the Year at the AMAs

BTS has won the top honour at the 2021 American Music Awards, taking home Artist of the Year – and making a little history along the way!

The Korean group is the first Asian act to ever win the award and in fact, they won in the other two categories they were nominated for as well – Favourite Pop Song for “Butter” and Favourite Pop Duo/Group, which they’ve won twice before.

“It took four years to be on this stage to get this trophy,” band member RM said on stage after BTS won Favourite Group.

“Thank you so much. Actually it means to us even more because we’re actually a small boy band from Korea. We just got united by the love for our music, and all we want to do is just spread love, the good vibes and energy through music and performance,” he continues before thanking the fans.

“But without you guys, ARMY, we couldn’t have done anything. Thank you so much.”

And while accepting the Artist of the Year award, he described the moment as “a miracle.”

“Seriously, we’ll never take this for granted.”

The boys took turns sharing their gratitude and excitement, check it out below:
