Christina Applegate Celebrates Family During Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony

It’s a special day for Dead to Me star Christina Applegate – after a decades-long career in entertainment, the actress has received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

She was actually supposed to receive it back in 2020 but you know, pandemic and all. So the ceremony was delayed until today and marks her first public appearance since sharing her MS diagnosis on Twitter in 2021.

Taking to the stage without shoes and with a little help from her Married with Children co-star Katey Sagal, Christina explained that she couldn’t stand up for too long.

She went on to share how she’s wanted a star since she was 5:

“Life started as a little girl, waiting in line to see Star Wars on this very street, at that very theatre and looking at these things going, who are these people? What did they do? Did they do something right? Did they do something wrong? Whatever it is, I want one. I f-ing want one! And I was 5 years old. So this day means more to me than you can possibly imagine.”

Christina thanked her team of agents and managers, and her friends, describing them as “family”. But it was the words she shared for her 11-year-old daughter Sadie that left everyone in a puddle of tears:

“The most important person in this world is my daughter. You are so much more than even you know. You are so beautiful and kind and loving and smart and interesting. And I am so blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to your school and do what I have to. You are my everything. Thank you for standing beside me through all of this.”

In between all the tears, Christina also kept the mood light, joking about her diagnosis: “Oh, by the way, I have a disease. Did you not notice?”

Her star is the 2740th on the famous boulevard.
