Daniel Craig Receives Same Royal Honour as James Bond

Daniel Craig has received a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George – just like his character, Bond, James Bond!

On Tuesday, the British star attended an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle where he received the prestigious honour from Princess Anne. The royal family’s official social media accounts shared a photo of the moment along with the best caption ever: “We’ve been expecting you,” a phrase from the 007 films.

The late Queen Elizabeth II acknowledged Craig in January as part of the New Year’s honours list, recognising his outstanding contribution to film and theatre.

You might remember Bond was fictionally decorated with the honour as mentioned in Ian Fleming’s novels From Russia, with Love and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. It also comes up in the film Skyfall and later in The Man with the Golden Gun where Bond was offered the Knight Commander title but rejected it!

This isn’t the first time Craig and Bond’s lives have intertwined. In 2021, the actor was named an honorary commander in the U.K. Royal Navy – of which Bond was also a member.

After appearing as 007 in five films, Craig is now starring as Detective Benoit Blanc in Knives Out.
