The nominations for the 64th annual Grammy Awards are out and Jon Batiste leads the way this year!

The musician, Late Show With Stephen Colbert band leader and social justice advocate has been nominated 11 times across a wide range of categories and musical genres including Album of the Year for “We Are” as well as Record of the Year for “Freedom.”

The second-most number of nominations is a three-way tie between Justin Bieber, H.E.R and Doja Cat – they’ve each been nominated eight times!

And then there’s Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo who’ve been nominated seven times!

I know that’s a whole lot of exclamation marks but seriously, those are impressive numbers!

And speaking of Ms Rodrigo, that’s seven Grammy nominations all stemming from her debut album “Sour” and hit single “Driver’s License.”

She’s nominated in the four big categories, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist and she’s making a little history along the way as the first Filipina American artist to receive all four nods.

The Weeknd who spoke out against last year’s nominations and vowed to boycott the awards this year has received three nominations for his work on music by other artists including Kanye West and Doja Cat.

Swedish pop group ABBA have been nominated for the first time ever in the Record of the Year category for their single “I Still Have Faith In You” which was released in September this year.

And JAY-Z, who received three nominations, is officially the most nominated artist in Grammys history. He now surpasses the legendary Quincy Jones who has racked up a whopping 80 nominations in his lifetime.

The Grammys will be held on January 31, 2022 at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. You can check out the full list of nominees HERE.
