“I’m still on cloud nine. I truly can’t believe it!” she captioned the video.
Nominated for playing Blanca in the final season of Pose, Mj is acknowledged alongside The Crown’s Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin, The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss, actress Uzo Aduba for her role in In Treatment and Jurnee Smollett for her role in Lovecraft Country.
Mj is the third trandgender performer to receive an Emmy nod overall with Orange Is The New Black star Laverne Cox previously receiving four Best Supporting Actress nominations and Razor Tongue’s Rain Valdez receiving a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Short-Form Series.
And yes, if Mj wins, she’ll be making more history as the first transgender person to ever win an acting Emmy!
Pose producer Janet Mock summed it up well in a Tweet:
“Three seasons carrying a drama series on her slender yet mighty shoulders. Bask, sis. BAAAASK.”
