Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff’s ‘Cruel Summer’ has hit a major milestone!
The track from Taylor’s seventh studio album, Lover, reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Celebrating the news on social media, Taylor posted a video with her long-time collaborator:
“Our favourite song from Lover from five years ago! The song that we said was the best song but we thought, ‘Oh, you know what? This is going to be our secret best song.’ That’s what we thought,” Jack says.
Taylor then jumps in,”we just wanted to say thank you so much for making ‘Cruel Summer’ a Hot 100 No. 1. And it’s not even the summer anymore, it’s deep fall! I’m wearing a sweater!”
“It’s deep fall,” Jack emphasised before Taylor gives an excited squeal.
The song, which was originally released back in 2019, hit No. 3 at the time. But now with her successful Eras Tour concert film in full swing, it’s back on rotation for Swifties and non-Swifties alike!

Last week, Taylor also announced she would release a live version of the song from her concert film as well as a remix by LP Giobbi to thank her fans for all their support:
“What a truly mind blowing thing you’ve turned The Eras Tour Concert Film into. I’ve been watching videos of you guys in the theatres dancing and prancing and recreating choreography, creating inside jokes, casting spells, getting engaged, and just generally creating the exact type of joyful chaos we’re known for.”
Taylor’s film is currently showing in theatres around the world.
