Taylor Swift is getting behind the camera again, but this time it’s to direct her first feature film!
Searchlight Pictures has announced the “Anti-Hero” singer (and multi award-winning superstar!) will bring to life a screenplay which she’s written herself. The production company hasn’t released any further details just yet but presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield did share a short statement:
“Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”
Taylor’s previously directed videos for her music including All Too Well – she won and MTV and a VMA for that one. And the video is also up for an Oscar next year in the Best Short Film category!
At the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year, Taylor was asked about whether she’d like to move into feature film-making:
” I’d love to keep taking baby steps forward. And I think that I’m at a place now where the next baby step is not a baby step. It would be committing to making a film. And if I feel like I would just absolutely love for the right opportunity to arise because I just absolutely, absolutely adore telling stories this way.”
