Taylor Swift Receives Honorary Doctorate from New York University!

Singer, songwriter, producer, director and *checks notes* eleven-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift has just added another accolade to her very, very long list.

The superstar has received an honorary doctorate from New York University (her official title being Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa), who describe Taylor as “one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation.”

Receiving her doctorate at a ceremony held at Yankee Stadium, Taylor took to the stage to deliver an epic commencement speech for the graduating class:

“I’d like to thank NYU for making me, technically, on paper at least, a doctor. Not the type of doctor you would want around in case of an emergency. Unless your specific emergency was that you desperately needed to hear a song with a catchy hook and an intensely cathartic bridge section. Or if your emergency was that you needed a person who can name over 50 breeds of cats in one minute.”

She went on to thank her family who sacrificed so much to help her career and shared some “life hacks” with the audience including: “never be ashamed of trying,” learning to live with “cringe,” letting go of those that don’t serve you and knowing that it’s perfectly okay to make mistakes! ⁣

Taylor ended her speech on an important but also hilarious note too:

“Hard things will happen to us, we will recover, we will learn from it. We will grow more resilient because of it. As long as we are fortunate enough to be breathing, we will breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep, breathe out — I’m a doctor now so I know how breathing works.” ⁣
