Singer, songwriter, producer, director and *checks notes* eleven-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift is about to add another accolade to her very, very long list.
The superstar is due to receive an honorary doctorate from New York University in May, her official title being Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa.
In a statement shared by NYU, Taylor is described as “one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation.”

They go on to list her many accomplishments including her three Grammys for Album of the Year – the only female artist in history to win it that many times – her Artist of the Decade honour at the American Music Awards and the fact that Taylor is the only solo artist this century to have three albums reach No.1 in one year!
Unlike others who receive honorary degrees from universities they’ve attended, Taylor didn’t actually go to NYU but the university’s Clive Davis Institute has been offering a Taylor Swift-inspired course run by Rolling Stone reporter Brittany Spanos. According to the course description, it “proposes to deconstruct both the appeal and aversions to Taylor Swift through close readings of her music and public discourse as it relates to her own growth as an artist and a celebrity.”
NYU confirmed on the day of receiving her doctorate, Taylor will also deliver a speech to the graduating class of 2022.
So yeah, did someone say Dr Swift?
