Trevor Noah is Leaving ‘The Daily Show’

After seven years of hosting The Daily Show – and doing a brilliant job of making us laugh, cry and learn along the way – Trevor Noah has announced he’s leaving his iconic desk.

In a video statement on social media, he described his time on the show as both one of the “greatest challenges” and “greatest joys” of his life but now feels it’s time to move on:

“I found myself thinking throughout the time of everything we’ve gone through – the Trump presidency, the pandemic, just the journey, more pandemic and I realise that after seven years, my time is up, but in the most beautiful way.”

He goes on to thank all his fans for watching over the years and his team at Comedy Central “who believed in this random comedian nobody knew on this side of the world.”

Trevor also hinted a possible return to stand-up:

“I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road, and when I got back out there, I realised there’s another part of my life out there that I want to carry on exploring. I miss learning other languages. I miss going to other countries and putting on shows.”

He didn’t share when his final show will be but he did end his message with a promise: “Don’t worry, I’m not disappearing.”
