Viola Davis Achieves EGOT Status After Winning GRAMMY For Best Audiobook

Viola Davis has now achieved the rare status of EGOT after winning her first GRAMMY!

What on earth is an EGOT you may be wondering? It’s a person who wins an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award and yes, Ms. Viola has just become the 18th person in the world to reach this status, joining the likes of John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Whoopi Goldberg and Rita Moreno. 

Today’s GRAMMY was awarded to the award-winning actor for her audio narration of her memoir, Finding Me. 

Speaking on stage, Viola celebrated her epic win:

“I just got EGOT!”

She goes on to explain that she wrote the book “to honour the 6-year-old Viola, to honour her, to honour her life, her joy, her trauma, her everything.”

Previously, she’s won two Tonys for her roles in King Hedley II and the Broadway production of Fences, an Emmy for her role in How To Get Away With Murder and a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the film Fences.
