It’s a very special day for Zac Efron – he’s received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

The 36-year-old actor, who first entered the industry at age 11 and rose to fame as a teenager playing Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel’s High School Music, said the honour was “a dream come true.”

“You have no idea how I’m feeling right now. It’s so surreal. I’ve been acting and singing and dancing for as long as I can remember, since I was a little boy, but I never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d be standing here today in front of such dear friends, colleagues throughout the years and lifelong fans who have been with me since day one. I love you guys so much.”

Zac began by thanking his parents, David Efron and Starla Baskett, for their sacrifices and their support throughout his career. His brother Dylan was also there cheering him on.

He went on to share his immense gratitude for High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and producer Bill Borden who were in the audience: “You guys were both instrumental in giving me my start… for that I’m just eternally grateful. I still think about it every day. I sing the songs in the shower.”

He hilariously added, “Go Wildcats!” referencing the film’s most famous line.

During his speech, Zac gave a shoutout to his late friend and colleague Matthew Perry:

“I really also wanna mention someone that’s not here today, and that’s Matthew Perry who was so kind and generous with me while we worked on ’17 Again’. Thank you so much Matthew. Thinking about you a lot today.”

Also at the ceremony was Zac’s The Iron Claw co-star Jeremy Allen White who nailed his speech:

“The other day, I Googled what makes a great movie star. What I found made me think of Zac. It said, ‘Great movie stars can convincingly portray a wide range of characters. They excel in both leading and supporting roles. They tackle various genres and adapt to different time periods and settings. Their ability to become different people on screen is unparalleled.’ These things are all true of Zac. He floats from piece to piece.. he chases change. He’s also devastatingly handsome. He’s kind. And he’s endlessly hard working.”

Jeremy added that what he loves most about his mate is that “he supports his cast and his crew. He champions us. He wants us at our best all the time. To me, I think he’s selfless. And he’s ego-less. It’s as if Zac Efron doesn’t know he is, in fact, a movie star.”

Zac’s star is the 2,767th on the famous boulevard.
