And if you did, well there’s more to that gown than we realise.

It turns out the musical prodigy – who is also very passionate about the environment and animal rights –  did a little negotiating with the brand behind the scenes and agreed to wear their design on the condition they stop selling fur in their stores.

“It was an honour to wear this dress, knowing that going forward Oscar De la Renta will be completely fur-free!!!!” Billie posted on Instagram.

“I am beyond thrilled that…the entire team heard me on this issue, and have now made a change that makes an impact for the greater good, not only for animals but also for our planet and environment too. I am honoured to have been a catalyst and to have been heard on this matter. I urge all designers to do the same.”

According to the New York Times, Oscar de la Renta has stopped using fur on the runway for awhile now but they’ve still been selling fur-based items in store, which make up a significant percentage of their profits.

Meanwhile, Billie made a little history today at the gala too – the 19-year-old is the youngest ever co-chair of the event. She took on the role alongside actor Timothée Chalamet, tennis star Naomi Osaka and poet Amanda Gorman.
