The Efron brothers have played a part in releasing two more Tasmanian Devils back into the wild as part of a major effort to repopulate the creatures on mainland Australia!
Zac and Dylan, who’ve been filming the second season of the docuseries Down to Earth with Zac Efron on our shores with TV host Darin Olien, have shared photos of their latest adventures with Aussie Ark, a wildlife sanctuary dedicated to saving endangered animals.
“Two more Tasmanian Devils in the wild,” it says on the Netflix’s show Insta page, sharing a pic of Zac and Darin holding up name cards that read “Manu” and “Padfoo”:

“The real heroes at @AussieArk are on a mission to rewild Australia and bring balance to the bush.”
And they’re right!
The sanctuary is helping return the iconic Tasmanian Devil to mainland Australia for the first time in 3,000 years through a collaborative program with Global Wildlife Conservation and Wild Ark.
Together, they’re hoping to not only reintroduce the creatures to the mainland but also return Australia’s ecosystems to that of pre-European settlement, free from introduced feral predators.
And this means, they’ll be able to help control feral cats and foxes that threaten other endangered species.

Over the last decade, more than 390 devils have been born and raised at Aussie Ark, where they’re being prepared to release into the wild.
Earlier this year, 26 Tassie devils were released (Hollywood couple Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky helped out with that!) and over the next two years, Aussie Ark is planning two additional releases of 20 devils each.

And if it all works out, we’ll have a flourishing, self-sustaining population of Tasmanian Devils once again.
In a message posted to Insta, Dylan describes his experience with the creatures and highlights Aussie Ark’s incredible work:
“I thought I knew about Tasmanian Devils… but the Looney Tunes were way off. These marsupials are cute, loud and will definitely rip a finger off – but they’re pivotal scavengers and play a key part in the ecosystem. Aussie Ark is on a mission to repopulate Tasmanian Devils on mainland Australia for the first time in 3,000 years. Thankful we got to experience and share their story on @ZacDownToEarth.”
