Wait a minute. What? Why are we calling him Doctor Timberlake now?
Because he is one!
Yep, Justin Timberlake has received an honorary doctorate in music from Berklee College in Boston. The superstar attended a ceremony on the weekend along with rap star Missy Elliot and ‘Hamilton’ composer Alex Lacamoire who also received honorary doctorates.
During his speech, the singer joked about how he doesn’t “prescribe” to the idea that life is only about the ups and downs. He says there’s more to it: “You’re defined by what you define failure as. It’s not a thing if it leads you to your success.”
And Justin – sorry, Doctor Timberlake – is pretty stoked about it all. In a social media post after the ceremony he tells his fans, “no dream is too big! Keep chasing! Trust me….I’m a doctor!”
Fellow superstar and wife, Jessica Biel commented, “literally every hat looks good on you, but this is my favourite one.”
Yep, we think so too Jess! (Although, we also really liked the one he wore in the “Señorita” video clip!)
Other big names who’ve received honorary doctorates from Berklee College include Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson and Quincey Jones.
