Ashton Kutcher is training for his first ever marathon – and it’s all for a good cause!
The Hollywood star, entrepreneur and co-founder of Thorn, an organisation using technology to wipe out the online sexual exploitation of children, has announced he’ll be running in the famous New York City race this November to help raise funds and awareness for the nonprofit.
“I’ve never run a marathon before. I’m terrified!” Ashton laughs in a video on Instagram.

“I started a nonprofit about 10 years ago. It’s called THORN and we fight against the exploitation of children. And they reached out to me and said, ‘hey would you like to run the New York City Marathon? We could raise awareness for the nonprofit’.”
Ashton adds that he will be making a “show” about his marathon experience and work with the nonprofit though he doesn’t elaborate on any details.
Since 2012, Thorn has been working with some of the biggest names in technology including Google, Facebook and Twitter to create specialised software which stops online predators and saves victims.
According to UNICEF, 1.2 million kids are being trafficked each year (and that’s not counting the kids who are already captive) and every two minutes a child’s being prepared for some form of sexual exploitation somewhere around the world.
