Pitbull’s Arizona Charter School to Open This Year

Pitbull will open another tuition-free school to support children in underserved communities – this time in Mesa, Arizona.

Speaking at the Gateway Celebrity Fight Night, the global superstar and education advocate whose real name is Armando Christian Pérez, announced that his SLAM! Foundation would be opening the new K-5 public charter school in August this year and is currently accepting enrolments.

Called SLAM! Arizona Elementary (FYI: SLAM stands for Sports, Leadership, Arts & Management), there’s some talk the school will open at 305 E. Main Street, which is kind of awesome given the Mr. 305 nickname!

“God is so big. The law of attraction so real. The building is 305. Yeeee!” Pitbull said to reporters at the Fight Night, though his SLAM! Foundation tells us the school may open at a different location.

This isn’t the first time the Grammy Award-winner has opened a school through his non-profit. According to the SLAM! Foundation’s website, they already have 12 charter schools in Florida, Nevada and Georgia where they serve over 5,500 students.
