Pop legend Björn Ulvaues is showing support for climate activist and fellow Swede Greta Thunberg.
The ABBA star has released a video message describing the teenager as a “populist nightmare” who’s causing the patriarchy to “piss in their pants in fear of a 16-year-old girl with superpowers.”
Björn says he can’t understand why she’s copping so much criticism for trying to do something postive: “She drives some people, mostly men, crazy, and I find it difficult to understand where that anger comes from.”
“How can you stoop so low as to criticise the looks of a child? A young girl. The reason is of course the lack of counter arguments,” he says.
In less than one year, Greta has created a global movement calling on governments to take urgent action on the climate crisis.
Donald Trump for example, took aim at the 16-year-old on Twitter with a sarcastic comment saying, “she seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.”
Björn adds, “even if you don’t think that everything that Greta says or does is unquestionable, you have to admire her guts and her focus. It’s a monumental achievement to create a global mass movement from scratch in such a short time.”
