Well, no wonder Woody Harrelson is calling Billie Eilish his “new bestie.” Not only did they deliver some epic performances on the Season 45 premiere of Saturday Night Live but they’re also both extremely passionate environmentalists.
In a video posted to Billie’s Insta, the pair talk about the current climate emergency and what we can all do to help.
“From California to the Amazon, our rainforests are burning,” Woody begins as the video cuts to footage of burning trees and collapsing ice bergs.
“Up to 1 million species are becoming extinct because of mankind’s actions,” Billie continues. “And time is running out.”
The pair reference climate activist Greta Thunberg in their video and urge everyone to take positive action to stop the climate crisis, whether it’s through striking, voting or making changes in our every day lives.
“History shows us that when enough people rise up and demand change, those in power have no choice but to act.” says Woody. “We must take back power, that means voting for leaders who care about the future of our planet.”
Billie who recently asked fans to bring refillable bottles to her concerts, also points out that living a “greener lifestyle like cutting out meat and dairy in your diet and reducing plastic use” can make a difference too.
They end the video by calling on support for Greenpeace and Fridays For Futures as well as any leaders campaigning for change.
“Above all, keeping yourself informed and making your voice count,” Woody says, “afterall, it’s the only home we will ever have.”
