One of the coolest and most impactful poets of our time, Azure Antoinette has teamed up with Grey’s Anatomy star and singer Kevin McKidd to release a cover of Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars” that’s even more moving than the original.

The song (which Grey’s fans recognise as the unofficial theme song for the hit medical show) has been re-made with a powerful video clip to go with it, to champion and support Black life.

It begins with the voices of Black Lives Matter protestors saying “no justice, no peace” while displaying dozens of names of Black Americans who have lost their lives at the hands of racism and police brutality – from Emmet Till who was murdered by two white men in 1955 to the more recent case of Breonna Taylor who was shot dead while she was sleeping, by police who carried out a no-knock warrant at the wrong address.

As McKidd sings, Antoinette interjects with powerful words about life and the staggering loss and endless pain the Black community is feeling.

We see news clips of police brutality.

And we see the families who have lost the people they love due to that same brutality.

The proceeds of the song will go to charities supporting the Black Lives Matter movement including the newly established NOIR Foundation which was co-founded by Antoinette to support the Black community and the future of Black lives through art, poetry and action.
