Britney Spears is FREE!

Britney Spears is FREE.

She is free to make her own decisions! She is free to do what she wants with her life! She is free to perform again if she wants to! She is free to marry Sam Asghari! She is free to fly to St Tropez and have an ice cream with Cher!

Yes, she has been freed from the conservatorship that has controlled her life for almost 14 years.

During a hearing in a Los Angeles courtroom, Judge Brenda Penny ruled to terminate both the conservatorship of the person and the estate which means Britney now has control of all her financial, medical and personal decisions and will no longer be required to pay a team of professionals to make those decisions for her.

In a message posted to Instagram, Britney expressed her happiness and gratitude for her fans:

“Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy. I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever… praise the Lord…can I get an Amen,” she wrote, sharing a video of her fans celebrating outside the courthouse.

She added the hashtag #FreedBritney too, which is just the greatest hashtag ever!

Fiancé Sam also posted a message on his page: “History was made today. Britney is Free!”

The court ruling comes after the superstar’s father Jamie Spears was suspended as conservator in September this year as well as a powerful statement made by Britney at an earlier hearing where she described her situation as “abusive”:

“I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not allowed to get married or have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside myself right now so I don’t get pregnant,” she said at the time, also describing how she was forcefully medicated at times.

“This conservatorship is doing me WAY more harm than good. I deserve to have a life,” she said.

So what happens now?

Well, there’s a lot of paper work to get through which John Zable, a court-appointed consultant will wrap up which includes executing various trust documents and transferring assets where applicable.

And Jodi Montgomery, the court-appointed conservator who has been overseeing Britney’s medical decisions since 2019, has developed a care plan with her therapists and doctors to guide her through this next phase too.

This is obviously a huge day for Britney – but also her fans who have been demanding the superstar’s freedom for years, passionately pushing the #FreeBritney movement and protesting outside court rooms.
