When it comes to famous female friendships, there are few – if any – more beautiful than that of Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams.
The actors who met on the set of 90s teen drama Dawson’s Creek have been there for each other through love and loss, proudly attending red carpet events together, cheering each other on through tears of joy and celebrating each other’s successes ever since. And last week, when Michelle was nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Fabelmans, you bet Busy had something to say about it!
In a post on Instagram, Busy shared a throwback photo of Michelle from the early 2000s along with a heart-melting message about the love she has for her talented BFF:
“I’m just gonna go back in time and tell this kid that she’s going to have 5 Oscar nominations in the next 20 years,” Busy begins.
“And a BEAUTIFUL family. And be surrounded by love. (And GORGEOUS CLOTHES). But tbh – that’s probably along the lines of what I was saying to her then.”
She continues: “I Love you MW. Proud of you forever for building the life and career you dreamed of, even though the absolute overwhelming grief of being human had you wondering if you could at times. But then you would dig deep and try again. It’s one of my favourite things about you. You have never NEVER stopped trying. A new way, a new recipe, a new parenting style, a new author, a new approach to work, a new love, a new role…. but always the same loving, brilliant, gentle, sensitive, funny, wild, thoughtful, beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL you.”
Michelle, who is up against Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Ana de Armas and Andrea Riseborough for the Best Actress Oscar, has previously described Busy as her soul mate and “proof that the love of your life does not have to be a man!”
In Busy’s 2018 memoir, This Will Only Hurt a Little, she dedicated pages and pages to their wonderful friendship and hilarious adventures together over the years, describing Michelle as someone she liked “immediately.”
