Sandra Bullock & Keanu Reeves Share Hopes of Acting Together Again

Kids and teens of the 90s, this one is for you – Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves just appeared on a podcast together and said what we’ve all been hoping they’d say: they want to work together again!

Not that it’s actually happening yet, but hey, talking about it is certainly a big step forward…

The duo, who starred in Speed back in 1994, spoke to Kris Tapley from the 50 MPH Podcast where they were asked about future projects. And honestly, their answers were heart-melting:

“Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera,” Sandra says. “Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?”

Keanu adds, “It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn’t done. I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.”

If, like me, you’re thinking, well, how about another Speed movie?well, Kris Tapley managed to cover that too and ask about a potential Speed 3.

“I mean, you know – we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park,” Keanu says, later agreeing with Sandra that any project they take on would have to have a “brilliant” script.

In case you missed the phenomenon that was Speed, Keanu and Sandra portrayed Agent Jack Traven and Annie in the film which went on to become a huge success, raking in over US$350 million at the global box office. Though they had never worked together before, both stars have said in the past that they felt a connection on and off screen.

Elaborating during their podcast interview, Keanu says it all came down to a sense of trust:

“I think we had an affection, you know? And the characters themselves have an affection for them. And I think, you know, Jack and Annie’s is different than Sandra’s and Keanu’s, but I think we, you know – I think we played off each other, and, you know, I think it was just fun. I mean, I think, also, we kind of trusted each other, right?”

Sharing the same sentiment, Sandra adds, “I felt very comfortable with Keanu. There was nothing that I couldn’t try or do or say that he wouldn’t have, I felt, fought for me to do or say or try, and that kind of trust is very rare with actors, and anytime I threw something his way, he swatted it right back and you just go, ‘OK, there’s my partner. OK’, in this extreme circumstance of a bus with a bomb on it, and we all had to pretend like it was very, very real.”

The pair also open about their late co-star Dennis Hopper who portrayed retired bomb squad member Howard Payne, their early audition process, the lessons they learned on set and more. Check out all their Speed talk on the 50 MPH podcast!
