Tom Holland Has a “Spider-Boys” Chat Group with Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire

Ever wondered if Spider-Man stars Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are close? Well, the answer is yes they are – they even have a chat group to support each other called “Spider-Boys”!

Tom recently shared this rather heart-warming fun fact while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about his friendships with his fellow Spidey stars.

He revealed that the trio, who we now know all reunited for the 2021 film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, are more like brothers:

“Myself, Andrew, Tobey – we have this amazing bond as three people who have been through something that is so unique that we really are like brothers. We have a great group chat and we catch up every now and then. It’s called the Spider-Boys.”

Tom added that he wished he’d reached out to Andrew after being cast as the new Spider-Man: “I was 19 when I got cast. I was so caught up in getting the role that I never took any time to think about what it must have been like for him.”

During the interview, Tom also discussed the challenges of living in the public eye and digesting negative reviews and commentary on social media, in particular for his latest role as Danny Sullivan, a psychologically distraught man accused of murder, in Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room.

Last week while promoting the series, he announced he would be stepping away from the spotlight for one year:

“It was a tough time for sure,” he told Extra in a video posted online. “We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. And then on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day kind of problems that come with any film set just added that extra level of pressure but I really enjoyed it.”

He continued, “I loved the learning curve of becoming a producer, I’m no stranger to hard work. I’ve always sort of lived by this idea that hard work is good work and I really enjoyed it. But then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where I was sort of like, I need to have a break. I disappeared. I went to Mexico for a week, and had some time on a beach and lay low and I’m now taking a year off and that is a result of how difficult this show was.”
