Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have shared a joint statement announcing their divorce.
The former couple took to Instagram, writing:
“Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our relationship. There are many speculative narratives as to why but truly, this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Joe and Sophie, who tied the knot in 2019, share two daughters together.
So the big question is, how do we give them privacy when everything is so…. public?

Right now, the tabloid and gossip cycle is in overdrive because readers are clicking and commenting left, right and centre. We, the consumers, drive what gets published. Those speculative narratives Joe and Sophie are talking about? They’re being churned out because publications know they’ll get the clicks, regardless of the mental health impact of sharing such stories on Joe, Sophie, their children or their loved ones.
If we’re really fans of either or both of them, the best thing we can do right now is not click on the rubbish that’s being written about them (which almost always use unnamed mystery sources, or intrusive paparazzi shots with meanings attributed to them).
Because Joe and Sophie are people, not objects.
And divorce is hard.
And their mental health matters.
Let’s also not forget that Sophie and Joe have gotten to this point together. New beginnings are on the way for both of them.
