Emily in Paris star Ashley Park is on the mend after a serious medical scare over the holidays – and she’s full of gratitude for her life, her health, and her loved ones.
Sharing photos of herself in hospital with oxygen tubes attached, Ashley explains:
“As I sit here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, the only word I can think of is grateful. While on holiday in December into New Years, what started as tonsillitis spiralled into critical septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs. I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we had initially been told.”
She writes that she had hesitated to share her personal health news for some time but now feels like she can because she’s “on the other side of the worst.”

Ashley also takes a moment to thank her boyfriend, fellow Emily in Paris actor Paul Forman: “…for being unconditionally by my side through all this. You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know. I love you Paul. More than I can ever say.”
In her Instagram carousel, she shares photos of Paul holding her hand while she’s in a hospital bed, and kissing her on the head as she sleeps.
She also thanks her doctors, nurses and the teams of people including translators who helped her on her journey.
Ending her message, Ashley reassures her fans that she’s on the road to recovery: “Thanks for reading this. I’m sorry for being so absent recently to so much and to people in my life. I love you all. I’m healing and I promise I’m gonna be okay.”
Ashley, who portrays Mindy Chen in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris, will be joining the cast in France where they’re due to begin filming Season 4. Lead Lily Collins announced on Instagram today that production had resumed this week after last year’s SAG-AFTRA strikes.
