Christina Applegate has revealed she’s been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The Dead to Me actress and breast cancer survivor shared a short message with her 1.4 million followers on Twitter today, requesting privacy at this time:
“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition,” her message begins.
“It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it. As one of my friends that has MS said ‘we wake up and take the indicated action.’ And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you xo.”
According to the MS International Federation, multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system with symptoms that can vary widely from blurred vision to weak limbs and extreme fatigue. There is no cure but there are treatments which can modify the course of the disease.
