Halima Aden Designs Masks for Frontline Workers Who Wear Hijabs

Halima Aden has designed a line of face masks for hospital staff who wear hijabs.

The supermodel joined Allure magazine’s Banding Together Project and tech company Anywhere to release the collection which features buttons or clasps at the back of the mask so they can be properly secured to a head covering.

“Knowing the struggles that women who wear the hijab go through – having to privately go to the bathroom to remove their masks from under their hijab – it was important that these face coverings had adjustable bands so it can be worn over the hijab as opposed to behind the ears,” Halima explains in an Instagram post.

“Every minute counts when working with patients and I’m super proud we can give a hassle-free option to hijab-wearing frontline workers.”

The collection also includes matching turbans and, for every purchase made, Anywear will make a donation of protective gear to a frontline worker.

Halima recently shared on Instagram that she used to work at the St. Cloud Minnesota Hospital cleaning patient rooms and understands the vital role of frontline workers:
