Selena Gomez is 28 today (well, actually it was yesterday Australia-time) and she’s kicking off the last few years in her 20’s with kindness and compassion.
The superstar who’s also the founder of make-up brand Rare Beauty, is launching a new fund with the goal of raising $100 million over the next 10 years to help increase access to mental health resources.
“We created the Rare Impact Fund to help tackle the epidemic of chronic loneliness by helping people gain access to mental health services and support, with a focus on underserved communities,” it says in a post on the brand’s Insta page.
Mental health is an issue close to Selena’s heart. Earlier this year, she opened up to Miley Cyrus on her live Instagram show, Bright Minded, about her own diagnosis of bi-polar disorder.
Raising $100 million before her 38th birthday is quite the task but Selena has a plan.
She’ll be donating 1% of all sales from her Rare Beauty brand to the Impact Fund.

And she’s also setting up a Rare Beauty Mental Health Council “comprised of leading mental health experts and professionals with lived experience to help steer our impact efforts.”
