Therra Jaramillo was at a check-out line in Atlanta recently when a kind stranger stepped in to cover the cost of her groceries. She asked the man his name and he simply replied “Chris” – but it wasn’t just any Chris you guys. It was Chris Bridges or, as the rest of the world knows him, Ludacris!
Therra says she had no idea who he was at the time but was blown away by his generosity. “He turned to me and he said, ‘I got this.’ And I looked at him and he said, ‘All of this, don’t put anything back.'”
The rap star, actor and philanthropist couldn’t have stepped in at a better time.

In a series of social media posts, Therra explains that she has been struggling emotionally, physically and financially after losing her husband to brain cancer a few years ago. That she’s been struggling since losing her mother to Hurricane Katrina. That she couldn’t really afford to shop at WholeFoods and was only there because a kind friend had given her a gift voucher. That she was buying food for her rescue animals but the gift voucher didn’t quite cover the costs. That life has been “verrry rough.”
As she so perfectly puts it, “what Ludacris had no way of knowing is that his quiet kindness and generous gesture came at a moment when my candle was out.”
This isn’t the first time Ludacris has been spreading the love. He is the founder of The Ludacris Foundation which is all about inspriring youth to live their dreams through educational programs, career advice, nutrition and health programs as well as providing food baskets to families in need.
