Jaden Smith is Opening a Restaurant to Feed the Homeless For Free

Multi-talented superstar Jaden Smith is expanding his philanthropic empire.

The 22-year-old singer and actor who launched the “I Love You” vegan food truck in 2019 to feed Los Angeles’ homeless population on Skid Row is now planning on taking the next step by opening an “I Love You” Restaurant.

Speaking to Variety, Jaden explained that anyone can order from the free eatery and those who can afford to pay are encouraged to make an extra contribution and “pay-it-forward”.

It’s a bit like what rocker Jon Bon Jovi has been doing with his JBJ Soul Kitchens – the food is free for the homeless and costs are covered through payments by guests who can afford their meals.

While no details have been released about when and where this new restaurant will be opening, we know Jaden has been very passionate about using his platform to help others where he can.

Last year when the pandemic first started, he had to cease operation of his food trucks to meet quarantine and safety standards in L.A.  So instead, his team confirmed to us that he was sending monthly care packages full of food, masks, sanitiser and other essential items to Skid Row.

He also launched “The Water Box” in 2020, a clean water filtration system which he helped develop in response to the Flint Water Crisis. To date, the Water Boxes which have been set up in five locations, have distributed over 38,000 gallons of safe drinking water – and replaced 306,000 plastic bottles.

Did we mention he’s only 22?
