Maluma has met his wax figure at the Museum of Modern Art in his native Medellín, Colombia and made a little history along the way!
The life-size replica of the superstar is the first wax figure created by Madame Tussauds to ever be unveiled in South America.
It features Maluma in one of his signature getups – a white Versace double-breasted suit and a pair of shiny Black Bottega Veneta shoes – a look created by his stylist, Ugo Mozie.
“The work that the entire team at Madame Tussauds created is unreal,” Maluma says in a statement.
“The figure is a true replica of me and I am honoured to have them bring a piece of me to my fans before my concert. Throughout my career, I have worked hard to share with the world that Medellín, Colombia is art, culture, music and much more. I am excited to continue representing my roots globally.”
He adds that he is grateful to both Madame Tussauds and the Museum of Modern Art in Medellín “for collaborating and making it a historic moment where a wax figure is featured in Colombia, and South America for the first time.”
According to the museum, a team of 20 artists worked on the statue for over six months and it did in fact go on display in Orlando last year.
“Maluma 2.0” as the peeps at Madame Tussauds call him (lol), will hang around at his concert in Medellín this Saturday, April 30 before spending some time in the city’s Museum of Modern Art and will eventually return to its permanent home at Madame Tussauds in Orlando.
