In case you missed it, Patrick Dempsey is officially McDreamy – he’s been named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2023!
The 57-year-old actor, who brought neurosurgeon Dr Derek Shepard to life on Grey’s Anatomy, is currently starring in the film Ferrari, and has had an acting career spanning more than three decades, tells the publication he hopes to use his title for good, which only solidifies his McDreaminess in our books….
“It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”

In 2008, after losing his mother Amanda to ovarian cancer, he founded the Dempsey Centre in Maine, where he grew up. Today, the centre continues to operate and helps hundreds of patients and their families each year with free services and resources.
Patrick is also a husband and dad-of-two. As for how his family will respond to this very prestigious honour? He tells the publication they’re “just going to make fun of me and pick on me and figure out every reason why I shouldn’t be. Which is good, they keep me young.”
Believe it or not, this is the first time he has been named Sexiest Man Alive, though he has made it close to the top of the list on several occasions!
He takes the crown from Marvel star Chris Evans. Previous recipients of the title include Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, Hugh Jackman, Paul Rudd, Idris Elba, Blake Shelton and John Legend.
