Actress and singer Chrissy Metz has launched her own wine company – and a portion of the profits go towards helping feed communities in crisis.
Called “Joyful Heart,” the wine has been created in collaboration with award-winning winemaker, Nicole Walsh, and features both red and white blends.
“These wines hold a special place in my heart, and it’s been amazing to watch our collective vision become a reality,” the Emmy-nominated star says in a statement.
“Born out of my desire to live from the heart, to create purposeful moments, give back to the community and to share delicious wine with loved ones, Joyful Heart Wine Co. has been a dream of mine for many years.”
She adds that the wine is meant to be “a reminder of the importance of breaking bread together, sharing in community and knowing that we’re all deeply loved.”
So how exactly does the wine give back?
Well, in tune with this purposeful mindset that Chrissy speaks of, a portion of every bottle sold is donated to World Central Kitchen, a non-profit founded by chef José Andrés that prepares and distributes free meals to communities all over the world hit by natural disasters, the COVID-19 pandemic, conflict and poverty. (To date, they’ve served more than 50 million meals to people in need.)
