Daniel Craig Donates £10,000 to Three Dads Raising Funds for Suicide Prevention

Hollywood star Daniel Craig has made a generous donation to three dads who lost their daughters to suicide and are taking part in a 300 mile walk to raise funds for suicide prevention.

Andy Airey, Mike Palmer and Tim Owen have already set off from their first stop in Morland, Cumbria and are heading to Kings Lynn in Norfolk next.

Before leaving, they shared on their blog that “007, James Bond no less, has donated £10,000 to the #3dadswalking cause!” – which is roughly $18,600 Australian.

The funds are going to PAPYRUS, a suicide prevention charity, that says the star’s donation will cover the cost of 2,000 calls to their helpline, which could potentially save many, many lives.

And while Daniel Craig’s donation is clearly helpful in further drawing awareness to the cause, the real heroes here are of course, Andy, Mike and Tim – three ordinary dads who didn’t know each other but were united in the devastation of losing their daughters and decided to do the walk so that no other family experiences what they’re going through.

In a message shared on their JustGiving.com page, they say, “Our beloved daughters, Bethany, Emily and Sophie all took their own lives. All so young. Very individual, our girl’s stories are very different, however they all fell into despair,” adding that “suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK.”

The men have already raised over £163,000 and it’s only day 1 of their walk, which is due to end October 23.
