Dolly Parton has surprised one of her longtime fans by helping him tick an item off his “bucket list”.
Utah resident LeGrand Gold, who has stage four colorectal cancer, had hoped to meet the country superstar after learning of his diagnosis in 2021. It was one of 11 items on a list he and his wife Alice wrote on a napkin to make the most of his final months.
And while he didn’t get to see Dolly face-to-face, the music icon did speak to LeGrand via video call and even serenaded him with a song!
In footage posted by Alice to YouTube, Dolly can be heard saying:
“Hey LG, it’s Dolly P. I’ve heard you’ve been a fan of mine for many years, and I just wanted to thank you for that.”
She continued, “I’m just happy to know that I’ve got a fan that devoted and that I’ve had a chance to watch that journey all these years. I’m just happy that we got to kind of have our journey together in this lifetime. I always want to make people happy with my music and with the things I do and the things I say and I’m just happy to know that I’ve touched your life in some way. So thank you for honouring me with that.”

LeGrand told the star that she had been a “huge help” during his cancer treatment while Alice praised Dolly, not only for her talent but also her Imagination Library, a free, global book gifting program for preschoolers.
“Just know that I will always love you,” Dolly added before singing her famous song and swapping the lyrics for “I will always love LG.”
Speaking to People afterwards, Alice said “out of the 11 items, we thought Dolly would be the impossible, but true to Dolly form, she once again reminds the world that dreams really do come true.”
Oh, how we will always love Dolly!
