Elton John’s Oscar Party Raises $8.6M to Support & Advocate for People Living with HIV

Sir Elton John’s Oscars viewing party has been held once again – and this time the annual fundraising event hit $8.6 million!

It all goes to his Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) which is working to not only end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 but also support and advocate for people living with and affected by HIV.

Elton couldn’t make it to the party himself this year due to a clash with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour but he left the event in the hands of husband and EJAF chairman David Furnish and his famous pals, Lady Gaga, Billy Porter and Eric McCormack.

The party had a sparkly guest list which included Heidi Klum, Zooey Deschanel, Adam Lambert, Brandi Carlile, Christina Milian, Troye Sivan and more. Elton and David’s sons Zachary and Elijah were also at the event. In fact, they walked the red carpet accompanied by their godmother, Lady Gaga. (How awesome, right?)

“I’m so grateful to my friends Lady Gaga, Billy Porter and Eric McCormack for joining David in hosting such an incredible evening, and of course Brandi Carlile for bringing down the house with an electrifying performance. Most of all, I’m thankful to all who attended and participated to ensure that we can continue our lifesaving work to end AIDS. I could feel the love and support all the way from Lincoln, Nebraska!” Elton said in a statement.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the party which has raised over $86 million for its lifesaving programs around the world.
