Just when you think the outpouring of love for Australia couldn’t be any more wonderful, Glennon Doyle and Abby Wambach bounce in with their positivity and compassion – and suddenly another $400,ooo is making it’s way to the people who need it most.

The pair, known for their activism and philanthropy, recently announced their organisation Together Rising would be donating US$100,000 to bushfire relief charities across Australia.

“If your heart is breaking over the tragedy in Australia, please join with us in turning our collective heartbreak into effective action,” Glennon wrote in an Insta post, asking her hundreds of thousands of followers to dig deep too.

And yes, the sisterhood pulled through.

Today, @together.rising pledged $100,000 in relief to Australia. ALSO, we are devoting 100% of what we receive from your donations through Monday Jan 6 to ease suffering for the people of that beautiful continent. . You can give at the link in my bio 👆🏼or TogetherRising.org/give Our team is currently knee-deep in research and vetting to deploy these funds to the best and highest, most urgent use. As always, we honor your trust in Together Rising by finding and deploying your investment to the most compelling boots-on-the-ground. In Australia, more than 12 million acres have burned – an area larger than Switzerland. Countless people are frantically trying to escape the inferno. Today we heard of thousands of families – including mothers holding infants and children clutching dogs – weary and shaken from a 20-hour voyage along the coast of Australia because the fires prevented them from escaping inland. . Fires have torn through nature reserves – home to koalas, sea lions, and other endemic wildlife. Almost 90% of Australia’s wildlife can be found only on that continent – and as the fires consume their native habitats, there is little refuge for these precious animals. Skies are full of choking smoke, and the horrors are only expected to get worse, as the heroic volunteer force of fire fighters in rural areas are depleted and overwhelmed. . If your heart is breaking over the tragedy in Australia, please join with us in turning our collective heartbreak into effective action. Link is in my bio or TogetherRising.org/give.

Since then, Together Rising has collected more than US $330,000 (AU$400,000) in donations, with 100% of all funds being split between what Glennon describes as the “lesser-known organisations” rather than the major fire services:

“In light of the fact that each of these excellent organisations will be heavily funded, Together Rising has decided the best use of your donations is to dive deep into lesser-known organisations that are doing tremendous and vital work on the ground and which face the possibility of being overlooked.”

The organisations receiving the funds include Koalas in Care, a volunteer koala rescue service, Vets for Compassion, to support vets who are helping injured wildlife and FoodBank Australia which provides meals, formula and water to families impacted by the fires.

This week, Bette Midler announced she would be matching Pink’s $500,000 donation whilst the Hemsworths and Elton John have each pledged a million dollars to support our firies and Celeste Barber’s epic Facebook fundraiser has now hit over $50 million.
