One week after hosting a successful Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue to make a positive difference in the world – and this time, they’re supporting school girls in Nigeria!
In an update shared through their Archewell Foundation, the couple recently teamed up with GEANCO, a nonprofit working to transform lives in Africa.
“As students around the world returned to school this month, The Archewell Foundation supported girls’ education and health by sending school supplies and menstrual products to young scholars in Nigeria with The GEANCO Foundation,” a message on Archewell’s website reads.
“GEANCO provides critical health care and education services in Nigeria. Its David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship provides full tuition, medical care, and social and emotional support to young female victims of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria.”
The message noted that Archewell’s support would also “provide menstrual health education for 2,500 girls in the region GEANCO serves, supporting the health and well-being of girls pursuing their education.”
The post was accompanied by a series of pictures of girls with their new backpacks from actor Shay Mitchell’s line, Béis. Inside, the bags were stocked with pencils, pencil cases, drink bottles and even friendship bracelets!

Nigeria recently made its debut at the Invictus Games which was founded by Prince Harry in 2014 to give wounded, injured and sick service personnel the opportunity to come together through sport. The country is particularly close to Meghan’s heart too. Last year, she shared the results of a genealogy test on her Archetypes podcast and revealed she’s 43% Nigerian.
Harry and Meghan are regularly supporting causes important to them, from teaming up with Chef José Andres’ World Central Kitchen to help build community relief centres, to providing grants to organisations supporting gender equality, generously donating to mothers experiencing homelessness and so much more.
