Hugh Jackman has received a medal as a Companion of the Order of Australia and it’s kind of a big deal. It recognises his work in the performing arts, his role in advancing Australia’s image overseas and his philanthropy. It’s such a big deal in fact, that Ryan Reynolds has momentarily stopped trolling the actor on social media to congratulate him!
“Hugh Jackman is one of the finest, kindest, hard working, generous and most talented people I’ve had the privilege to call my friend,” Ryan writes on Insta. “There’s nobody better.”

Receiving the medal at a ceremony in Canberra, Hugh was praised for his distinguished career and all he does to help others – He is a Patron of Fight Cancer Australia and a long-time supporter of World Vision. His fair trade Laughing Man Coffee company not only supports coffee growers living in poverty but also, a number of important health, education and housing projects too.
But amongst all the praise and applause, Ryan’s making sure his Aussie mate stays grounded. He ends his kind message on a cheeky note, saying: “none of this changes the unfortunate fact he’s a complete bastard.”
