Leonardo DiCaprio is doing his bit to help those affected by the fires ripping through Australia.
The Hollywood star’s environmental organisation Earth Alliance is donating $4.3 million (US$3 million) “to assist critical firefighting efforts in New South Wales, aid local communities most affected by the wildfires, enable wildlife rescue and recovery, and support the long term restoration of unique ecosystems.”
The announcement was made on social media with the funds going to a number of different organisations including WIRES Wildlife and Rescue and Global Wildlife Conservation:
Leo started Earth Alliance in 2019 with entrepreneurs Laurene Powell Jobs and Brian Sheth and donated US $7 million to help preserve the Amazon last year.
Earlier this week, Chris Hemsworth and his family as well as Sir Elton John donated $1 million to support bushfire relief efforts while Nicole Kidman, Pink and Kylie Minogue have all donated $500,000.
Meanwhile Celeste Barber’s Facebook fundraiser is about to hit $50 million!
