Lilly Singh is heading into 2023 with kindness and compassion – and you bet we’re cheering her on.
Loudly.
The beloved YouTube personality, trailblazing former TV host and author has posted a video on social media, sharing her frustrations about the judgment, division and hate that seems to plague the modern world, both online and off. She’s reminding us that at the end of the day, we’re all human, and we need the space to be ourselves and allow others to be themselves too.
“I no longer entertain or indulge the idea that we’re not all human beings,” she says in her video, adding that she isn’t sharing this message because of any particular judgment or hate she’s received. It’s more about the vibe she hopes we’ll all take into the new year with us. To really see each other as people.
“We’re all complex human beings that have life experiences, that have relationships, that have joys, that have traumas, that all make us unique.”

Lilly highlights the unrealistic standards we place on each other when we strip people of that human-ness:
“If you’re like this, then you have to be this. And if you are raised like this, then you should say this. And because of where you’re from, you have to care about this…..I’m over this whole judging each other, not letting human beings be human beings. This self righteousness where we feel like we need to project our values and beliefs onto other people.”
She ends her message powerfully but in that oh-so-casual, signature Lilly style:
“You’re a complex human being. So am I. And we should hold space for each other.”
