Can’t make it to history class? Just get Hamilton star and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda to write you an absence note, or in this case, film a video message for your teacher!
In a Twitter post this week, Georgia mum Tamara Stevens revealed she’d hosted Mr Miranda for lunch at her home and allowed her son Luke to skip class that day.
“When my son told his US History teacher that he wasn’t gonna be in class yesterday because @Lin_Manuel was having lunch at our home, she didn’t believe him. She does now!”
In the video, Miranda not only apologises to Ms Rosner, Luke’s history teacher, but also assures her he’ll cover the important topics with Luke:
“I’m sorry he can’t be in U.S. history class right now, but he is with me. We’re gonna go over the Bill of Rights and anything you may be covering, right now. We cover a lot of it in about two-and-a-half hours in Hamilton, but we’re gonna go over it in specifics now, so this is not lost time. Thank you. Thank you for excusing him from class!”
And when Ms Rosner saw the video? Well, she did not hold back!
In a separate tweet shared by Luke’s mum, Ms Rosner writes:
“OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM FREAKING OUT DURING THE TEST AND I CAN’T SCREAM BECAUSE THEY ARE CONCENTRATING AND IAM FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!”
She adds, “Tell him I just saw the show for the first time and I love it! We will be using his songs tomorrow to teach about Washington’s precedents ad the cabinet battles!! Does he want to be a guest lecturer tomorrow?? Thank you so much for sending the video!! I am so happy right now!!!!!!!!”
