Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have been spending some time during their vacation in France, volunteering at a restaurant to feed refugees and the homeless.
In between visits to the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the French countryside, the Hollywood couple stopped by the Madeleine Church where Refettorio Paris is located. The restaurant serves 5-star meals and gives them away for free to guests who are going through a rough time.
“I have never seen anything like it!”Camila writes in an Insta post. “For instance, when guests arrive, someone checks their coat, they have beautiful dishware, the room looks like it’s from a movie, the meals are cooked by Michelin Star chefs and the list goes on and on!!”
Matthew and Camila were invited to help out by friend and artist “JR” who started the restaurant in collaboration with Food For Soul (chef Massimo Bottura and LaraGilmore’s organisation to fight food waste). And yes, you guessed it – all the meals are made from food that would’ve otherwise been thrown away.
As Camila explains, the restaurant is not just about feeding people who are hungry: “They bring a dignified experience to guests (refugees and homeless) that’s been lacking for many of them for a long time!”
Earlier this year, Pharrel lended a hand there too:
