Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Donate to Six Organisations Supporting People of Ukraine

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced how they’re supporting the people of Ukraine.

Following a statement which paid tribute to late Invictus Games athlete Serhii Karaivan, who passed away during conflict, the couple’s Archewell Foundation has announced their donations to six organisations working on the ground:

They include HIAS which helps Ukrainian families resettle, World Central Kitchen, which provides hunger relief for refugees as well as those seeking shelter within Ukraine, the World Health Organisation which is providing urgent medical equipment to neighbouring countries to support refugees, Are We Europe which supports independent media organisations reporting on the war, Halo Trust, which is on the ground in Ukraine providing education messages on ways to avoid unexploded bombs and Project Healthy Minds which provides mental health support.

“All of us at Archewell have been inspired by the work these organisations have taken on– and also by the stories from those on the frontlines,” the Duke and Duchess said in a statement on their Archewell Foundation page.

They shared dispatches from those working for the organisations, as well as a conversation between Prince Harry and two of HALO’s staff members where he praised them for teaching people how to keep themselves safe from deadly weapons and unexploded missiles across Ukraine.

“You guys are saving lives every day,” Prince Harry tells Olesia and Maryna.

“I mean, I know you’re part of HALO, so that’s exactly what you signed up to do…Keep doing what you’re doing, keep saving lives.”

The organisation is particularly close to Harry’s heart as it was a charity Princess Diana was involved with too – she famously walked through active minefields in Angola to highlight HALO’s work in 1997. Prince Harry then became a patron of the Halo Trust in 2013.
