Melissa Joan Hart has shared an emotional message on social media, describing the moment she helped young children and teachers escape a school shooting.

Three 9-year-old children and three adults were killed at Nashville’s Covenant School on March 27 by a shooter who was subsequently killed by police.

In Melissa’s video, she explains that she was driving with her husband, Mark Wilkerson, to parent-teacher interviews at her children’s school nearby, when they spotted a group of young kids and stopped to help bring them to safety:

“We helped a class of kindergarteners across a busy highway that were climbing out of the woods, that were trying to escape the shooter situation at their school,” the Sabrina, The Teenage Witch actor said, visibly teary.

“We helped all these tiny little kids cross the road and get their teachers over there, and we helped a  mum reunite with her children.”

Melissa, who moved to Nashville with her family from Connecticut, says this is her second experience with a school shooting: “I just don’t know what to say anymore. It is just, enough is enough.”

A number of Nashville-based celebrities have called out the state’s gun laws following the Covenant School shooting, including country music singer Margo Price who has questioned why Tennessee Governor Bill Lee passed permit-less handgun carry laws allowing anyone over 21 to carry a weapon.
