Naya Rivera’s Fans Raise Over $100k To Help Women and Children Find Safe Housing

Naya Rivera’s fans are doing their bit to keep her memory alive this holiday season.

They’ve taken part in a “Snixxmas” charity drive to raise funds for Alexandria Housean organisation the late actress volunteered with, that provides safe housing for women and children leaving emergency shelter.

The drive, started by her fellow Glee cast and crew members including Darren Kriss, Jenna Ushkowitz and Dianna Agron, hit the target goal of $100,000 earlier today and is currently sitting on $104,361 as donations continue to trickle in.

“Wow. You. Guys. Are. Amazing,” Jenna Ushkowitz tweeted after seeing the tally.

“We love you! Can’t thank you enough. Each and every person who donated or spread the snixxmas cheer. Naya would be so touched.”

Fellow Glee actor Kevin McHale also shared his thanks:

“Omg. You all did it. I’m speechless.”

Snixxmas is named after the annual party Naya hosted around Christmas time where she would ask guests to bring a gift for a child in need.

“Every holiday season, Naya not only managed to find a way to give something great back to her friends and family but something great back to her community,” actor Darren Kriss says in a YouTube video posted earlier this month.

The video encouraged fans to consider donating or volunteering with the organisation:

Before her death earlier this year, Naya had commented on how much the charity means to her:

“The connection I feel with [Alexandria House] and the people who reside and work there has been the biggest blessing and made such a huge positive imppact on myslef and my son. We truly have found a home away from home through the time we spend volunteering there.”

Naya lost her life in July after a boating trip to California’s Lake Piru. Her body was pulled out of the water after a weeks-long search.
