Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are marking one year since taking ownership of Welsh football club Wrexham AFC – and they’re doing it in true Ryan and Rob style!
The famous pair have penned a heartfelt, open letter to Wrexham “supporters, staff, players, friends and family” thanking them for being so welcoming and promising to continue to help the club grow, while also hilariously throwing in some free booze.
Aviation Gin. Of course.
But let’s start with the heartfelt stuff….
“The year has gone in the blink of an eye, we have learned so much and more importantly feel like we are fully integrated into everything Wrexham,” the message shared on the club’s website reads.

“We, ably supported by those who work for the club, have already achieved so much but we know there is much more that needs doing if we are to meet our goal of growing the team, securing a return to the EFL in front of increased attendances at an improved stadium while making a positive difference to the wider community in Wrexham.”
The letter goes on to explain how not everything they’ve done “has gone off, without an issue or two,” but they’re committed to meeting their goals for the club.
They end their message, “you have all been great for us and we aim to be great for you too.”
And just when your heart is full and you’re madly applauding the open display of love two men are sharing for their football community, they step it up a notch.
Yes friends, this is the hilarious, free booze part…
In a flyer posted on a notice board and shared on Wrexham’s social media pages, Rob and Ryan write:
“Dear Wrexham. Firstly, thank you for reading this flyer. We weren’t sure if anyone ever looked at these.
“Just a quick note to thank each and every one of you on our 1-year anniversary with the club. The love and adoration for Wrexham FC – it’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
“That’s why we’ve put up 365 Aviation Gin and Tonics behind the bar. Have one on us. Until we speak again, via a haphazardly posted flyer or otherwise – cheers. Rob and Ryan.”

Wrexham peeps were invited to local pub, the Turf Hotel with the bar tab worth 365 drinks on the boys. (The flyer even came with paper strips at the bottom which read, “This one’s on RR McReynolds.” Did someone say genius?)
“Y’know, paper is the traditional 1 year wedding anniversary gift” Ryan tweeted after the post.
Needless to say, the Wrexham fam are clearly in great hands.
