Luke Eisner is the name on everyone’s lips right now. The strikingly handsome actor is the break-out star from Netflix’s latest teen rom-com ‘Tall Girl’. He also makes up one half of pop-rock duo ‘VOILÀ’ and has an illustrious modelling career. And yes, there’s a lot of talk about how ridiculously good-looking he is but if you can get past the chiselled jaw à la Smith from Sex and the City and draw your eyes away from his piercing blue eyes for just a moment, you’ll see it’s Luke’s heart that really makes him stand out.
The 20-year-old recently took to Insta to help survivors of domestic violence and hopefully inspire his 400k (plus) followers to do the same.
“Nothing makes me more upset than domestic violence,” he begins. “It frustrates me making these romantic movies and writing love songs when there are women whose current definition of love is pain. Makes me sick.”
According to the World Health Organisation, over a third of all murders of women are committed by an intimate partner. In Australia, 1 woman a week is murdered by her current partner or ex and in the U.S, 3 women are killed by their partners every single day.
After speaking to staff at the Good Shepherd Domestic Violence shelter in Los Angeles, Luke was able to put together a list of supplies needed to help survivors: “new bed sheets, kitchen supplies, towels, microwaves and new clothes for the kids that are being housed there with their mothers.”
The young actor announced that he would donate the supplies and called on his fans to ‘like’ his post in order to get more people talking about the issue. It reached over 100k likes in less than 12 hours but as Luke explains in an Insta story, “it wasn’t about the likes. It was to raise awareness and hopefully do some good in the world.”
And it doesn’t look like he’ll be stopping anytime soon.
Luke’s put a call out for other domestic violence shelters to reach out to him if they need assistance. “Let’s do something good and useful with Instagram. If it works, I’ll do it more often!”
We’re looking forward to it Luke!
